An earthquake rocks Israel!

morning, and was felt from the north to the northern Negev. One worker
was lightly hurt when he fell off scaffolding, and cracks were

surrounding ‘The Passion of the Christ’ stands a peaceful
man with a passion for acting, and for his Catholic faith. Jim
Caviezel, 34, portrayed Jesus Christ in the blockbuster film
directed by Mel Gibson. He was in the Eternal City with his family
last weekend, to seek the blessing of the Holy Father. |

The Internet of the Future, With Israeli Help

How
will the Internet of the future handle the growth in online traffic
(estimates are that it is doubling every year)? Israeli scientists and
an Israeli high-tech company are helping to answer that question.
Scientists in several countries have begun working to measure this
incremental growth and to devise methods for more efficient means for
future networking. One major project is EVERGROW, a European
Union-funded program involving 25 universities in Europe, Israel and
Egypt and selected high-tech communications companies.

Syrian media, controlled by the dictatorship in Damascus, is very
careful about its choice of words. Recognition of the State of Israel,
or any Jewish national or religious rights in the Land of Israel, are
strictly forbidden.
An article this month in the London-based Arabic-language daily Al-Hayat
laid out the terminology used by the Syrian media, based on interviews
with leading Syrian journalists.
The Al-Hayat article includes some of the latest entries in the
media lexicon of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). Some choice

Locusts May Swarm Middle East And Africa

An
outbreak of locusts that potentially could darken the sky and consume
everything in its path is in progress on the Red Sea coast in Saudi
Arabia where swarms are forming. According to the Rome-based United
Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (UNFAO), these swarms of
locust are expected to move to the interior of Saudi Arabia with
additional breeding in the spring. These locust swarms could reach
areas in Jordan, southern Iraq, and western Iran with possible
outbreaks in the desert parts of northern and western Africa.
The UNFAO says that these Desert Locusts, a form of
grasshopper, can quickly multiply into massive swarms capable of
moving hundreds or even thousands of miles, with the crop damage by
the swarms being described as devastating.

Astronomers Get Glimpse At
Ultra-Deep Space

The Hubble Space Telescope has obtained the
deepest view ever of the Universe, the most distant galaxies ever seen
by astronomers. These historic images allow astronomers the closest
look ever to the Big Bang itself, so they say, unveiling the first
galaxies to emerge from the end of the so-called "Dark Ages".
Astronomers are saying they
have seen the first galaxies that developed after the Big Bang, a time
in cosmic history when the first stars were reheating a cold, dark
Universe. This report from the Space Telescope Science Institute says
the galaxies seen are some 13 billion light-years away from our Earth.

Twice
President Reagan faced life-threatening experiences and twice he had
encounters with angelic beings who comforted him and helped pull him
through his medical crises, says a new book,
"Hand of Providence: The Strong and Quiet Faith
of Ronald Reagan," by Mary Beth
Brown.
As Reagan was
fighting for his life after being shot by John Hinckley March 30,
1981, he was having trouble breathing. His skin had turned so pale,
Nancy Reagan remembers, "He was the color of paper – just as white as
a sheet, with dried blood around his mouth."
Reagan later
recalled looking up from the gurney and praying. Half-conscious, he
realized someone was holding his hand.

'Godless
Americans' launch political group
New PAC is voice in D.C. for atheists, freethinkers, humanists

The successor to the
late, famous atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair is helping head a new
political action committee of Americans who don't believe in God.
The
Godless Americans Political Action Committee,
GAMPAC, officially was launched Tuesday in Washington.
Its executive
director is Ellen Johnson, president of
American Atheists, which was
founded by O'Hair in 1963. Known for her Supreme Court challenge to
organized prayer in public schools, O'Hair and two of her adult
children vanished in 1995 and six years later were found to have been
murdered.

after the attorneys for an admitted killer on trial claimed the Sixth

Sen. John Kerry suggested to an audience in
Mississippi recently that the Bible is ambiguous on the topic of
homosexuality.
"Well, I know the deep beliefs, I respect, I'm a
Christian, I've read the Bible, and I know you can find the clauses
that go both ways," he said. "I'm not here to argue that with you."
Well, I'm here to argue with Kerry. The Bible is
clear on homosexuality – Old Testament and New Testament:

US Public Says All Of Jerusalem Belongs To Israel

Dori Gold, the former
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations and the now President of the
Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, revealed the results of a recent
public opinion poll that his group had commissioned. It indicates that
73% of the respondents to the poll agree that under an Arab-Israeli
peace agreement, Jerusalem should remain under Israeli sovereignty
with freedom of religion for Christians, Muslims, and Jews.
More than half of the American public,
52% of the respondents, is in favor of a united Jerusalem. Mr. Gold
says that this is significant since all recent peace plans call for
the dividing of Israel's capital city, the city of Jerusalem.
EU To Form Military Division Apart From NATO
February 24, 2004
At a meeting in Sweden,
the European Union's top military official said that European Forces
should be responsible for their own territorial defense, and only
cooperate with the United States military on major crises outside
their region.
Finnish General Gustof Hogland, the chairman of the
EU's military committee, told a defense conference that it was time
that Europe shouldered the defense of the continent itself and would,
together with America, engage in crisis management outside their
territorial defenses.
EU leaders agreed last December on agreements to
create a military planning cell that would run military defenses when
NATO was not involved. They believe that there is no threat to Europe
that the EU now cannot handle.
