Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that he had agreed
to the U.S. suggestion of a three-month extension to the West
Bank settlement freeze, but the Americans were the ones who
retracted the offer. "The United States asked us to consider
extending the freeze by three months, and the truth is that we
were prepared to do so," Netanyahu said while speaking before
the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

church a half hour into the New Year early Saturday, hitting
worshipers emerging from a holiday Mass in the Egyptian city of
Alexandria and killing at least 21 people in an attack that
raised suspicions of an al-Qaida role. Egyptian President Hosni
Mubarak vowed to track down those behind the attack, saying "we
will cut off the hands of terrorists and those plotting against

and a neon sign advertising diesel fuel at $3.26 a gallon. As we
filled paper cups of coffee, I tried to cheer him up by
suggesting, "Things will get better after the new Congress is
convened on January 5." 'The trucker shrugged and concluded our
brief conversation with a stark warning, "They better, 'cause if
they don't make things right, we've had it. Our oldest son is a
Marine on his second tour in Afghanistan. He was going to stay
in the Corps, but since this 'don't-ask-don't tell' thing, his
wife wants him to get out when he comes home. Our daughter is
working her way through college, but couldn't find a job last
semester... Anyone who thinks Congress can fix all this is
naïve. Happy New Year to you and your family, Colonel..."'

of dengue fever, researchers at Tulane University report. The
trap, a gallon-size bucket, contains a mixture of chemicals that
convince female mosquitoes that it is a perfect spot to lay
eggs. But once the mosquitoes fly into it, they find not a
stagnant puddle, but insecticide.

For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. - Mic 4:2 "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy." Psalm 137:5,6
